Jason Williams: “Jordan wouldn’t score easily if Antetokounmpo and Lopez were waiting for him near the basket”
Veteran NBA player Jason Williams made an interesting statement, saying on a podcast that if Michael Jordan played basketball now like when the duo of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Brook Lopez were on, it would be difficult for Michael Jordan to score as easily basket would wait for him.
Jason Williams caught up with Michael Jordan primarily as a sports fan after he joined the NBA in the 1998-99 season (Jordan’s two years with the Bullets…don’t count). He has seen “Air” play many times. And one thing he believes: Jordan wouldn’t do as well in modern times. Especially when Giannis Antetokounmpo comes into play.
The veteran point guard spoke on The s Choice podcast, and as the conversation turned to arguably the greatest player of all time, he said:He found it easy to score against Gary Payton. I don’t think it would be that easy for him now if he was tagged by Jrue Holiday and Giannis Antetokounmpo and Brook Lopez were waiting for him back in the basket. He wasn’t going to score as easily as he did back then.”
The truth is that usually experienced players side with their bakery and crack the next generations. However, Williams has taken a different route and it will be interesting to see if there is a backlash.
