PARIS, France – Swiss Stefan Bissegger (EF Education) won Tuesday in Ajman the 3rd stage of the UAE Tour, a 9-kilometre individual time trial, which Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE) finished fourth square.
Bissegger, who took the lead in the general classification, beat the world time trial champion, Italian Filippo Ganna, by 7 seconds and Dutchman Tom Dumoulin by 14 seconds.
Pogacar for his part dropped 18 seconds to Bissegger at the end of the flat course, in the form of a round trip, and very windy.
The Slovenian, winner of the Tour de France title, was 4 seconds ahead of his Portuguese teammate Joao Almeida and of 11 seconds the Briton Adam Yates, his runner-up for the 2021 edition.
Wednesday, the 4th stage, 181 kilometers long, ends with one of the two finishes at the top of the event, in Jebel Jais, on the sides of the highest mountain in the Emirates.
