PARIS – Colombian champion Sergio Higuita (Bora) took control of the Tour of Catalonia on Saturday after the 6th stage won by his companion in a large breakaway, the Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz (Ineos).
The two men made a raid of some 120 kilometers until the arrival in Cambrils, on the Costa Daurada, where Carapaz slightly outstripped his companion at the end of a hilly course of 168 kilometers. Reigning Olympic champion, Carapaz moved up to second place in the general classification, 16 seconds behind Higuita.
