(Morzine) Australian Luke Durbridge, positive for COVID-19, must leave the Tour de France, his BikeExchange team announced on Tuesday morning before the start of the 10e stage in Morzine.
Durbridge is the fourth runner to abandon the race for this reason, after the Norwegian Vegard Stake Laengen (UAE), a teammate of the yellow jersey Tadej Pogacar, the French Geoffrey Bouchard (AG2R Citroën) and Guillaume Martin (Cofidis).
“Unfortunately Luke Durbridge tested positive for coronavirus this morning. Durbridge has mild symptoms and will not start the 10e stage,” announced BikeExchange, a team whose leaders are Australian Michael Matthews and Dutchman Dylan Groenewegen.
After the first three positive cases, the whole peloton passed a test on Sunday evening which then gave a negative result.
