Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) announced Thursday that it is postponing to February 24 the gala it was to hold on January 29 behind closed doors at the Cabaret du Casino de Montréal due to the “pandemic situation”.

“The current conditions do not meet our standards required to ensure safe participation for all,” GYM justified in a press release, explaining in particular that the preparation of the organization’s boxers is disrupted.

The gala, which will be presented at the same place on February 24, should allow Marie-Pier Houle (4-0-1, 2 K.-O.) to get back into the ring for the first time since her fight which cost the life to his opponent Jeanette Zacarias Zapata, on August 28.

This time she will face Yamila Esther Reynoso (12-9-3, 8 KOs), from Argentina. Aged 25, Yamila Esther Reynoso has already fought three world championship fights and lost by decision against Chris Namus (IBF), Erica Farias (WBC) and Amanda Serrano (WBO). Note that she also lost a decision against our IBF champion Marie-Eve Dicaire in 2017.

Mazlum Akdeniz (15-0, 8 KOs) must put his perfect record into play against the Mexican Erick Encinia (14-5-1, 5 KOs).
