Russian MMA fighter Sergei Kharitonov said he would support compatriot Peter Yan in a duel with Sean O’Malley.
Yang lost a split decision to American Aljamain Sterling on April 10 in the United States in a fight for the UFC bantamweight title. After the fight, Kharitonov said that Jan had a star disease. Yang replied through journalists that Kharitonov, after his situations, should not open his mouth at all and say something.
– I’ll say this. Wisdom comes to us all with age. Sooner or later he will feel everything for himself. Petya will make a remark to someone, and the young fighter will insult him. Awareness will come with age. I wish him health, more wisdom, and since he is also a Russian fighter, I wish him victories. He can say anything about me. Time will put everything in its place,” Kharitonov told Metaratings.
Yang’s next fight will be with American Sean O’Malley on October 22 in Abu Dhabi as part of the UFC 280 tournament. The tournament will be headlined by Brazilian Charles Oliveira and Russia’s Islam Makhachev for the vacant lightweight title.
