UFC promotion president Dana White has announced changes to the UFC 279 card.

Swedish fighter of Chechen origin Khamzat Chimaev will not take part in the main fight of the tournament against Nate Diaz. Earlier, the fighter failed the weigh-in, showing an extra 3.8 kg. He will be replaced by Tony Ferguson.

Chimaev moved to the co-main bout against Kevin Holland.

The head of the promotion noted that doctors forbade Chimaev to continue to lose weight.

– Khamzat had problems with his intestines, convulsions began during weight loss. The doctor decided that Chimaev should stop losing weight,” White was quoted by journalist Shakil Makhzhuri on a social network as saying.

UFC 279 is scheduled for the night of September 11 in Las Vegas.
