A PHOTO. Shot stats: Alvarez hits less but more accurately
A boxing night has come to an end in Las Vegas from promotional company Matchroom Boxing, whose main event is the title fight between Mexico’s Saul Alvarez and Kazakhstan’s Gennady Golovkin.
The undisputed middleweight title was at stake. The judges unanimously awarded the victory to Canelo (116-112, 115-113, 115-113), who put a spectacular end to the championship trilogy.
According to CompuBox statistics, Alvarez shot more accurately – from 130 to Golovkin’s 120. At the same time, Gennady hit more – 521 punches against 487 for Canelo.
Golovkin used the jab much more actively – 74 hits against Alvarez’s 45. However, in terms of power strikes, Mexico had a significant advantage – 85 to 46.
Statistically, Golovkin has thrown more punches in just three rounds, and they curiously went from 9 to 11 in a row.
