WBA, IBF and IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin commented on his third match loss to Mexico’s Saul Alvarez.

“Everybody knows it’s the highest class, best fight in boxing. Everyone knows who Canelo is. Every bad move is the end of the war. If you miss a hit, this ends the fight. Look at his and my faces – it’s clean because we made the best preparations and we showed it in battle.

This fight was very clever, it was more tactical, it was like chess. Today Canelo was better. In the second half, I tried to change the course of the match. I felt good. This is a good fight.

Our blood feud is one hundred percent over. Today I must congratulate Canelo and all the boxing fans. Note that I have three middleweight belts. I’ll be back. “I’m still the champion, guys,” said Golovkin.

Note that the third fight between Golovkin and Alvarez took place in the second middleweight division, so Gennady retained their belts despite the defeat.
