USIK: “It’s easier for me to play football, they don’t hit your head on purpose”
WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight title holder Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) talked about why he loves playing football.
Usyk has said before that he wants to play in the Premier League.
Polissya is a club that will advance to the Premier League. And this is the team that gave me the opportunity to play in the First Division. I want to help men more. The Major League is a high level. It doesn’t matter to me who I play with. There will be a game, there will be a training camp – and how will the coach see it.
These 30 years of working have helped me play in the Premier League. I’m not making a hat. I understand that you have to work. Going through a full training camp, seeing, getting football terms – not with words, but with actions.
Do you know why playing football is easier for me than boxing? You don’t get hit in the head on purpose in football. Even when Usyk is around them, they think, “So, it looks like I need to stay away from him.”
