Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin could – finally – complete their trilogy.
Alvarez and promoter Eddie Hearn are reportedly set to sign a two-fight deal worth around US$85 million which would be featured on DAZNreports ESPN.
The deal’s first bout would be against WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol on May 7 and the second against Golovkin – at super middleweight – on September 17.
However, the Kazakh will have to beat Ryota Murata in a means unification fight this spring in Tokyo for the third duel against “Canelo” to materialize.
For weeks, Alvarez juggled between Hearn’s offer and that of Premier Boxing Champions, who offered to defend his four super-middleweight belts against Jermall Charlo on May 7. “Canelo” would have obtained approximately $45 million for this confrontation.
