Ukrainian boxer Vasily Lomachenko The former world lightweight champion (16-2, 11 KOs) will enter the ring in New York on the night of December 30.
The opponent of the Ukrainian in the 12-round fight is 26 years old Jemaine Ortiz from the United States (16-0-1, 8 KOs), which had no previous top competitors. Ortiz is the owner of the IBF USBA and NABF regional belts. There were only two 10-round fights in his career (both points in 2022) and the rest consisted of lesser three-minute fights.
Lomachenko, 34, beat Japan’s Masayoshi Nakatani by technical knockout in June 2021, closing his loss to Teofimo Lopez, then defeating Ghana’s Richard Commey on points in December 2021. Before the fight with Ortiz, Vasily did not fight in 2022.
