Ukrainian boxer Vasily Lomachenko took part in the last press conference before the lightweight fight with Jemaine Ortiz.

The fight will take place on October 29 in New York.

Note that in the year since the last fight, Lomachenko has improved his English, but at some points he has answered in Russian.

“It’s been quite some time since my last fight. I’m feeling great, I’m looking forward to getting back in the ring on Saturday. MSG Arena in New York is a unique place. And happy for me, only I won here.

“Rejecting the fight with Kambosos in the summer? It was an easy decision because there is war in my country, there is war in my country. I had to stay with my family, the Ukrainians. You don’t think about boxing or your future. Do you consider the safety of your family? I did not participate in hostilities, I patrolled the city in territorial defense.

“With my struggle, I want to remind Ukraine of sports, to give Ukrainians some positive emotions.”

“As for Ortiz, I had an argument with him, but it doesn’t look like a competitive fight at all. Saturday will be an interesting fight, that’s for sure. I’m focused on my work, boxing. I can’t help thinking about my country, it’s always on my mind, but I need to focus on the fight. After the fight, I’m in Ukraine to support my country. I’ll be back either.”

“As I said before, my dream and goal is light belts. But I do not want to talk about the future now, I need to win the fight on Saturday first, and then we will talk about the future,” Lomachenko said.
