A huge boring fighter wants to take Jan’s place in the UFC. Will there be a promotion for a trade?
The heavyweight from Canada promises the league one and a half billion new viewers.
After the unexpected defeat of the Russian ex-UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan from Sean O’Malley at the tournament in Abu Dhabi, rumors began to appear on the network about the desire of the Siberian to leave the main promotion of the planet. Although the fighter’s manager has already denied this information, absolutely amazing scenarios have begun to be discussed.
An Indian heavyweight from Canada, Arzhan Bullar, offered Petr Yan to exchange promotions!
Bullar promises to bring one and a half billion Indians with him …
Arzhan was going to correct Askren’s mistakes
Immediately after the information appeared that Yan was disappointed in the UFC after three controversial defeats in a row, and especially after the recent judicial arbitrariness at a tournament in the UAE, the manager of the fighter Sayat Abdrakhmanov said that the Russian had 4 more fights under the contract and he was not going to leave the league. Nevertheless, the spreading rumor even reached the heavyweight champion of the Asian ONE promotion Arzhan Bullar.
The Canadian of Indian origin suggested repeating the story from 2018, when the UFC and ONE made an exchange: the legendary “flyer” Demetrius Johnson then went to the Asian promotion, and the then most popular welterweight Ben Askren moved to the American one.
– They could get one and a half billion viewers with the arrival of an Indian athlete. If the deal is decent, I’m ready to come and win. Fix Askren bugs. Do what Chandler couldn’t. And if heavyweight is still stagnant and light heavyweight is the fastest way to the top, so be it,” Bullar wrote on social media.
Bullar has already fought in the UFC
Speaking of the desire to correct Askren’s mistakes, Bullar means the American’s crumbling career, who had not known defeat before moving to the UFC. In the first fight, Ben miraculously caught a choke Robbie Lawler, who seconds earlier threw Ben like a sack of potatoes. However, in the next two fights, Askren really screwed up, first flying into a legendary knockout from Jorge Masvidal, and then losing on points to veteran jitser Demyan Maia.
But in the case of Bullar, there is one important detail – he has already competed in the UFC and did not stay there for a long time. Arzhan, whose base is freestyle wrestling, moved to the Absolute Fighting Championship in 2017 and in two years won three victories with one defeat. Despite a positive record in the UFC, the promotion management decided not to renew the contract with Bullar, probably due to the unspectacular fighting style of the Canadian.
After leaving the UFC, Arzhan signed up for the Asian ONE Championship, in which he took the championship belt in his second fight, knocking out Brandon Vera. It is possible that Bullar’s army of fans has really grown after winning the title in Asia, but this is unlikely to be of any interest to UFC leaders. Making the exchange of Johnson for Askren in 2018, the Americans killed two birds with one stone: they got rid of the unpopular Demetrius and got the famous trash talker Askren, and undefeated one at that.
Now, giving away one of the most competitive UFC fighters in exchange for a boring 36-year-old fighter, hardly able to compete with heavyweight monsters, the American promotion will decide only in Bullar’s dreams. He probably decided to just PR on a loud rumor.
