Jake Paul vs Anderson Silva: The test for a blogger or beating a veteran?
Jake Paul (5-0, 4 KOs) will face Anderson Silva (3-1, 2 KOs) on the night of 29-30 October. On the one hand, it looks like the American will finally get a more or less serious boxing test. On the other hand, in a duel between a 25-year-old great man and a 47-year-old senior, absolutely everything seems like nothing more than a PR stunt.
Will a century-old competitor be able to impose at least something on a young competitor who has earned popularity and a lot of money for boxing?
Jake Paul raises a lot of money, but he doesn’t shoot anyone seriously. Silva left MMA for boxing and is doing well
Jake Paul is currently one of the highest-grossing boxers in the world. He is raising money from his previous popularity and successfully selling both his own talent and the hatred of fans towards him.
If you look at who the Americans beat, there is nothing surprising. The first fight in his career was with Ali Eison Giba. Blogger flew from a blogger – nothing surprising. The second is against Nate Robinson. The basketball player looked bad: he rushed to the opponent, struck blows, behaved strangely and caught. In the second round, the head of the basketball player could not stand it – a knockout.
After that, Paul started making a lot of noise and talking around. So much so that it would not be serious to continue the fight against the same nameless. For the third fight, Ben Askren was chosen for him. The former MMA champion prepared for the meeting for about an hour and a half. And then, most likely, when he shot a promotional video and then he did not enter the hall. It’s not surprising that Askren won instantly – from a big opponent who hit it right in the first round and it was all over.
The next two meetings sounded interesting. Tyron Woodley is a motivated and clearly prepared former UFC champion. Yes, Woodley is a fighter. He’s definitely not a drummer, and he’s definitely not top-notch who can easily be thrown into the ring. Physically, however, Tyrone was absolutely ready and even gave Jake a fight on the first meeting.
At the start of the fight, Woodley even took Jake. Paul escaped the shot and outstripped his opponent by a split decision.
However, the vengeance of the former MMA fighter did not work. It was promoted as a classy encounter between fighters with an even fight, all ending in a knockout in the sixth round. Now – don’t face Silva. They say it will be competitive, but thanks to what?
Anderson’s boxing experience is limited. In boxing, he entered the ring for the first time in 1998. The debut didn’t work – the Brazilian lost ahead of schedule in the first round to a man whose record ended around 30-22, 24 KOs. But then – only victories, and one of them is pleasant directly on the way to boxing. Silva’s first victory came in 2005. Then, after a hiatus in 2021, the Brazilian retired from MMA and joined Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. He returned to boxing to face off against
In general, the duel seemed obvious. A newcomer to boxing against a burly Chavez who needs to be revived for the hundredth time.
Julio Cesar had to move his opponent, but it didn’t work. It turns out that Silva is faster, more accurate, better and literally unravels the former world champion without any problems. The judges gave the victory to split the decisions in eight rounds, but in fact, if we take all the factors into account, it was much better than its Brazilian rival.
Then there was another show three months later. Tito Ortiz has decided that if he weren’t in MMA, he would pull Silva in boxing. He did not pull – a knockout in the first round. And all this at 47 years old, yes. Cool guy any way you look at it.
That’s why boxers with such a reputation are approaching the confrontation. But what will it stop the Brazilian-American for?
So who is your favourite?
Almost for the first time in Jake Paul’s career, he’s a favorite but it’s not clear. You can bet an average of 1.75 on Jake’s victory. For the victory of the opponent – about 2.05. The difference is not serious at all. Even in Tyrone Woodley’s victory, bookies believed less than the century-old Brazilian.
To some extent, there is logic in this. Anderson stated that he would not just make money and serve the number. He made a show like in MMA and did not lose heart in boxing. Even at such a serious age, he prepares, trains and gives his best in the ring. He had a surprising punch, technique, and reaction. Even Julio Cesar Chavez could not cope with the latter. And this is a former world champion and a man Canelo had to work hard for. Saul wasn’t too hard, but it wasn’t easy either.
Of course, Jake has not faced such technical opponents. And with his stubbornness, it will not be easy to cope with it. However, the fact that he did not encounter such a rival is not only Silva’s merit, but also Paul’s problem. And this does not mean that he will not cope with the Brazilian.
Yes, it will be technically difficult. But physically the American is stronger. The young are so many that it attracts a lot of attention. Hits hard and accurately. Objectively, it gets better from fight to fight. Whether the 47-year-old boxer will have enough strength to deal with such a powerful colleague is a big question. And the most important thing.
If it works, the confrontation will be both interesting and intriguing. If not, we might see a knockout. Will this result surprise you? No way. The teenager interrupted the veteran – nothing surprising. The Brazilian’s victory will not be a miracle, but it will be a surprise. And it will delight fans, many of whom still don’t and will never love Jake.
Youth facing age. Force against techniques. Bold desire for experience. It sounds epic, but Jake Paul is still hard to spot.
Jake Paul vs Anderson Silva will be played on Sunday, October 30th in Florida. Estimated start of the battle – 05:00 Kyiv time.
