No fight Lomachenko – Haney? Experts not sure if Devin will gain weight
Well-known American source BoxingNews24 expressed his doubts that the fight for all lightweight belts between Vasily Lomachenko and Devin Haney will take place.
The reason given is Haney’s height, who would have a hard time making 135 pounds. Even Lomachenko was surprised at Haney’s size after a fight with Jemaine Ortiz and called him a heavyweight.
Experts believe that Devin will easily fit into the middleweight, but gaining weight to fight Lomachenko can be dangerous. The rules say that Haney will lose his belts if he is overweight before the fight, but will still have the opportunity to fight Lomachenko.
Recently, Shakur Stevenson was in a similar situation when he failed to gain 130 pounds and lost his titles. Stevenson is just getting under Lomachenko’s weight.
At the same time, according to most experts, Vasily is too small for 135 pounds, and against the giant Haney, even if the fight does happen, he will have little chance.
