Kick *op under the rubber. Boxers from Russia and Belarus were excluded from WBC ratings
President of the World Boxing Council (WBC) Mauricio Suleiman He said that the organization will exclude athletes from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus from the ratings. This decision was taken at the WBC Congress in Acapulco, Mexico.
“All boxers from Russia and Belarus will be removed from the rating. The WBC will not endorse fights in these countries, and their nationals will not be able to box for WBC titles. I express my deepest condolences to the athletes, organizers and members of the boxing community in Russia and Belarus who will be affected by these events.”
It was noted that Russian and Belarusian boxers can apply for a reconsideration of the decision depending on their ties with Russia.
Currently, there are several Russian boxers in the WBC ratings: Artur Beterbiev (having Canadian citizenship), Alexei Papin and Evgeny Romanov.
