Megafight Usyk and Fury may break down: cause is known
The fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion between Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk and Briton Tyson Fury can be postponed indefinitely. The International Boxing Federation IBF intervened.
Usyk, who holds the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO belts, has been instructed by the IBF to begin negotiations to defend his title against mandatory opponent Filip Hrgovic. This was said by the promoter of the Croatian boxer Eddie Hearn.
“We’ve heard that Usyk is scheduled to fight the next Filip Hrgovic. He’s a must. We’ve already requested a promotional offer for this fight. He’ll be Usyk’s next challenger,” Hearn confirmed.
It was noted that Usyk could refuse to fight Hrgović, but would later have to vacate the IBF belt. Alexander may also try to negotiate the postponement of the fight for monetary compensation, but there is no guarantee that this option will be suitable for the competitor.
