Named the diagnosis of MMA fighter Johnson, who died at the age of 38

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight contender Anthony Johnson, who died at the age of 38, suffered from cancer and a rare disease of the immune system, reports Yahoo Sports.

According to the publication, the American fighter was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis. Previously, the cause of death and the diagnosis of the athlete were not called. He passed away on November 13th.

Lymphoma occurs when lymph node cells, or lymphocytes, begin to multiply uncontrollably, producing cancer cells that have an abnormal ability to invade other tissues throughout the body. The material states that non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is not considered a “death sentence” and is usually treatable. Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis is an immune system disorder that primarily affects infants and children, although it can occur in people of any age.

In October 2021, Johnson was supposed to fight Russian Vadim Nemkov at Bellator 268, but then withdrew from the tournament. In mixed martial arts, the American won 23 victories, suffered six defeats, his last fight took place in May last year, when he defeated Jose August Azevedo Barros.
