Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) has reached an agreement with Titov Promotion and thus obtained the rights to promote the fight between Oscar Rivas and Evgeny Romanov, GYM announced on Tuesday.
The Montrealer of Colombian origin will make the first defense of his WBC super-lightweight title in June in Montreal or in Colombia, also specified GYM.
“It was important for us that Oscar could defend his crown in a familiar environment,” said promoter Yvon Michel in a press release.
Rivas (28-1, 19 KOs) became the first welterweight champion in history by defeating Ryan Rozicki by unanimous decision of the judges last October in Montreal.
