Valuev was in the clinic. Doctors refuse to release a boxer?

What is known about the state of the former athlete at the moment?

Ex-world boxing champion Nikolai Valuev often has to visit doctors. A rare disease that an athlete suffers from requires constant monitoring. However, the news of the former boxer’s recent medical treatment has caused serious concern for fans.

What is known at the moment?

“Just lame”

According to one of the telegram channels, the famous Russian boxer Nikolai Valuev was recently hospitalized in a Moscow clinic. The ex-world champion in the heavyweight category according to the WBA allegedly sought the help of doctors because of problems with his leg, and as a result of the examination, it was decided to hospitalize him.

Following the news that 49-year-old Valuev was not released from the clinic after complaining about his leg, information appeared from the deputy’s assistants that everything was fine with him. Later, the very fact of hospitalization in the press was quick to refute.

“Yesterday he was at work, tomorrow everyone will see him on TV, he will comment on the fight … Yesterday he was in the Duma, everything is in order … He’s just limping, indeed, since August,” Valuev’s press service told RIA.

It is to be hoped that Nikolai is really all right, but the fact that he went to work yesterday did not prevent him from seeking medical help at night. It was at this time of day, according to the source, that Valuev was hospitalized.

“They got me in the head”

It would be useful to note that Valuev ended his career prematurely for medical reasons. After the fight with David Haye, the Russian decided to conduct an examination, which revealed a benign brain tumor – acromegaly.

– They got me in the head. The disease is conditionally fatal, it had to be localized as soon as possible. Delaying the problem will only worsen it. I can’t say that I lay down on the operating table as a hero, ”Valuev told the TV Center TV channel.

I had to have an operation, and after a while, a second one. But surgical intervention was not enough – the former athlete is forced to undergo therapy every month. This problem does not interfere with social and political activities or commenting on boxing fights, but, of course, I had to refuse to enter the ring.

With acromegaly, in addition to the disproportionate growth of bones, soft tissues and internal organs, there is a violation of the cardiovascular and pulmonary systems, as well as other health problems. If the disease is started, then in half of the cases people do not live to be 50 years old. And it is not surprising that Valuev has to monitor his health so closely – there is always a risk that a conditional problem with a leg can turn into big trouble.

However, after the statements of the deputy’s official representatives, the situation began to look encouraging. And after the reaction of Valuev himself, one can almost certainly say that the rumors about his deplorable state are greatly exaggerated:

Thank you all for your concern and well wishes. Everything is fine. We are working,” Valuev wrote on social networks.

2020 Olympics champion boxer Batyrgaziev decided to take a break from his career

Olympic champion and former interim WBA super featherweight champion Albert Batyrgaziev decided to take a break from his professional career.

At the beginning of July in Istanbul at the “IBA.PRO 8” tournament, Batyrgaziev lost early to the British James Dickens and lost the IBA.PRO champion and interim WBA champion titles in the second featherweight division. For the 27-year-old Russian, this was the first defeat in his professional career.

— I want to tell you honestly about my plans. Many people ask about their future career. Now I have decided to take a conscious break from my professional career. For me, boxing has been and remains a huge part of my life. Therefore, this choice is now very difficult. My whole sports life has been a race to the top: four Russian championships, an Olympic medal in Tokyo and then turning professional, where I went undefeated.

The last fight on July 2 was a turning point for me. The first defeat made me look at many things differently. I thank Allah for the trials and mercies that helped me become a better person. Since I have always felt a responsibility not only in the ring, but also before society, now is the time to become more active in projects that I have long planned, for example, supporting the development of sports infrastructure in my native regions. This doesn’t mean I’m saying goodbye to the ring. I remain an active boxer. But now all my work is outside of it. I thank everyone for their incredible support along this path: both in moments of triumph and in moments of challenge. She gives strength. I promise this new chapter will be just as honest and purposeful. I’m not saying goodbye, I’m just saying “goodbye,” Batyrgaziev wrote in the Telegram channel.

Batyrgaziev won gold in the weight category up to 57 kg at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. In the professional ring he has 12 wins and one loss.
