Olympic champion Gatsalov appointed head coach of Russian freestyle wrestling team

The champion of the 2004 Olympic Games, Khadzhimurat Gatsalov, became the head coach of the Russian freestyle wrestling team, according to the website of the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR).

The Russian freestyle wrestling team is currently holding a training camp at the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “TsSP” in Paramonovo. On Friday, the team’s meeting was visited by FSBR President Mikhail Mamiashvili, who introduced the new head coach, Khadzhimurat Gatsalov, to the team.

Earlier it became known that Dzambolat Tedeev, who led the Russian freestyle wrestling team from 2001 to 2012 and from 2016 to 2022, will continue to work as a curator.

Gatsalov is 39 years old, he won gold at the Athens Olympics (2004), and at the 2015 European Games he was the captain and flag bearer of the Russian team.
