“I got angry and gave him a knee in the chest.” Fighter from Dagestan – about a fight with an American during sparring

Known by the nickname Shara Bullet, MMA fighter Sharabutdin Magomedov recalled how his training sparring with an American ended in a bandage fight.

This incident took place in 2017.

There was history in Thailand. Were sparring in MMA. I came in with 16oz gloves and everyone else in MMA gloves. And there is such work: you change your opponent every minute. I got up with a weight from America. I didn’t know how it works, and one of the blows, remember how I knocked out the Brazilian with the heel, went on him. I carefully threw and hit. He shook his hands, jerked his head and fell on me. And then I also had a fight in China, this is already a control sparring, I have to fly away soon, it was impossible to get injured. As a result, he bykanul, climbed on me. He is heavy, and I was still a welterweight then. I took him into the clinch, I think the main thing is not to miss the legs. And he waves his arms from above, I constantly bow my head, and his blows fly like bombs over Baghdad. I see he’s borscht already. Such blows, if hit, would have knocked me out in kind. I got angry and gave him a knee in the chest. They already separated us, I gasped at him there, like: “Come here.” My friends were also there, the Hiramagomedov brothers, and we were in a mess, in the end we separated. I took off my gloves, shouting: “Come here!” And then everyone stepped back, created a circle. And the coach didn’t mind. I was in bandages, he was wearing gloves, and we were sent to fight. He remained in MMA gloves, but I took mine off, because the conditions were not equal, I have gloves of 16 ounces, and he has for MMA.

We started to fight, and of course I was surprised. Abroad, for this they can be kicked out of the hall, I did not expect that we would be allowed to fight. And I understood that these were the last sparrings before the fight, you need to work carefully, you can’t get injured. I think we need to do it so as not to get injured, and teach him a lesson. He got on me, I moved, moved, and he thought I would cut him down with him, but it was not profitable for me. I began to move in my style, left there, left here, he rushed at me, and I threw a double knee into his head. He crept up a little, he was shaken, at that moment I moved away, and he came to his senses a little. Then he immediately hugged me, saying that everything is fine, he began to remember this heel strike, like: “I got so angry because of this,” Magomedov told Sport24.

Magomedov is 28 years old, a fighter from Dagestan, has 9 victories in MMA and no losses.
