WBC Chairman: “It’s a pity that Chisora’s column didn’t stop the war sooner”
President of the World Boxing Council (WBC) Mauricio Suleiman The WBC heavyweight champion appreciated the fight between Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) and Derek Chisora (33-13, 23 KOs).
“Derek Chisora has proven interesting for fans. This world-class boxer entered the WBC rating after defeating Pulev. Tyson Fury got into this fight after two fights with Wilder and a forced defense with White. So why not fight Chisora? He deserved voluntary protection. Fury tried to fight Joshua and Usyk that evening, but they weren’t available. So it was true.
And Chisora put up a good fight. He was competitive, always trying to win. I’m sorry that Chisora’s corner didn’t stop the war sooner. He took additional damage that he shouldn’t have taken. In an interview with the iFL TV YouTube channel, Süleyman said, “Thank God, he has nothing.”
The fight between Fury and Chisora took place on 3 December in London. The referee stopped the fight at the end of the 10th half, Tyson defeated Chisora for the third time in his career.
