Former ACA featherweight champion Magomedrasul Khasbulaev believes Islam Makhachev will hold the UFC lightweight championship belt longer than Khabib Nurmagomedov.

On October 22, Makhachev defeated the Brazilian Charles Oliveira by choke at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi and won the title in the weight category up to 70.3 kg.

– I train with Islam in the gym, wrestle, sometimes I spar. Islam is now as good as no one will be good in the next year and a half. There will be no equal to him in lightweight. I was sure of victory at Oliveira. Islam is working and growing every day, it is well done. I don’t see any rivals. He will be the champion longer than Khabib,” Khasbulaev told Metaratings.ru.

Makhachev has 23 victories and one defeat in mixed martial arts, in February he is scheduled to fight with Alexander Volkanovski.

Nurmagomedov became UFC Lightweight Champion in April 2018. Subsequently, the Russian fighter defended the belt in fights with Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje. Nurmagomedov officially retired in March 2021.
