Khabib Nurmagomedov could become an MP, Zhurova believes

Former UFC fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov could try himself in politics, State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova told RB Sport.

– Sooner or later, everyone can try himself in politics, including Khabib. Yes, after leaving MMA, he could become a deputy, another question is whether he needs it? It all depends on the desire of the person and plans for the future. Politics is not at all a simple matter, not every public person wants to give himself to this profession, participate in the election campaign, go to committee meetings and so on.

It used to be so that a famous athlete did not need to engage in social activities in order to become a politician and get into the State Duma. Now this is not the case. We have to work hard and hard to help people. The most important thing is the willingness of a person to take all his time and interest in this area. First of all, you have to want it yourself.

I don’t know Khabib enough to understand if he has a desire to go into politics. But I know that he is a principled person who will make decisions himself, and not listen to those who offer him something. He will think 250 times before making a decision, so it will be difficult to convince him to go into politics without his will. In general, the appearance of Khabib in politics is quite possible, but it all depends on his desire and readiness,” said Zhurova.

Nurmagomedov became UFC lightweight champion in April 2018 and officially retired in March 2021.
