SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (51-3, 41 KOs) outplayed Julio Cesar Martinez (18-2, 14 KOs) on Saturday night to win by unanimous decision from the judges in super flies.
The former four-division world champion was precise and consistent in his attacks to hit Martinez solidly on several occasions.
Gonzalez demonstrated his superiority in the mid-fight rounds and hit Martinez at nearly 50% ratio.
In the semi-final of this gala, Mauricio Lara (24-2-1, 24 K.-O.) served a powerful and spectacular K.-O. in the 3rd round to beat Emilio Sanchez.
He sent Sanchez to the ground in the first round, then again in the second round, before ending the fight at the end of the 3rd round with a K.-O. spectacular.
