Boxers from Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) met the press today to promote the gala which will be presented Friday evening at the Cabaret du Casino de Montréal.

WBC light flyweight silver belt holder Kim Clavel will defend her title in the final. She will face the Bolivian Mariela Ribera Valverde.

Clavel’s fight is of the utmost importance, as it is a preparatory fight for her next duel which is expected to be a world title fight against Mexican Yesenia Gomez.

If Clavel wins easily on Friday, his fight could take place as early as April 21.

The former world contender Mathieu Germain will play his first fight under the colors of GYM. He will face the Mexican Oscar Mejia.

There will also be a heated duel between former Olympians Gabriel Maestre and Taras Shelestyuk, who will face off for the position of the WBA’s number one welterweight contender.

Shelestyuk, who is of Ukrainian origin, will be able to fight despite the armed conflict in his native country.

“I spoke to Shelestyuk and he is proud to box here. We talked about his family being safe. Obviously he is more than concerned with what is happening in Ukraine. But life must go on and he comes to defend his livelihood. »

GYM can present this fight in Montreal because of its new association with the international promotion firm Probellum.
