23-year-old boxer Maxim Galinichev was killed in a Russian raid in Ukraine
Mourning in the boxing and sporting world after 23-year-old Ukrainian boxer Maxim Galinichev, who was crowned European champion as a teenager, was killed in a Russian airstrike.
Maxim Galinichev is one of the victims of the Ukrainian war. As it became known, the champion of Ukraine – and European champion of 2018 – was killed in a Russian airstrike on March 10 in Luhansk.
Galinichev had the option not to fight and compete in the European Boxing Championships in 2022, but chose to retire and protect his country.
As it became known, Galinichev was also the father of a three-year-old girl.
