Sergey DEREVYANCHENKO: “I think I won the fight”
Ukrainian middleweight boxer Sergey Derevyanchenko (14-5, 10 KOs) commented on his defeat in the fight against Mexican boxer Jaime Munguia (42-0, 33 KOs).
“I think I won the fight. I controlled the fight every round. I don’t know, round 11 was close and it hit my body in round 12. Munguia hit my liver and I couldn’t stand it.
I saw that you were tired. I hit his body a few times, he slowed down. But Munguya is a tough fighter. He slowed down but then recovered and got back into the fight.
I’m not upset because I know I won the war. I did a good job, I worked with my team throughout the whole camp. I trained, I was ready for this challenge. “I know I won because I fought well,” Derevyanchenko said.
The judges unanimously awarded Munguia the win in their notes: 115-112, 114-113, 114-113.
