Munguia wanted a 10-round challenge. Derevyanchenko refused the money
According to the American media, a few weeks before the fight against Sergei Derevyanchenko, the team of boxer Jaime Munguia offered the Ukrainian a 10-round fight instead of 12.
For this, Derevyanchenko was offered additional money, but Sergei refused, as he wanted to participate in a full-fledged duel, which he promised fans. Also, the Ukrainian team understood that Munguia did not just want to reduce the number of rounds, and Sergey hoped to show himself only in the championship rounds.
Given Sergei’s knockdown in the 12th round, it’s ironic that in a 10-round fight, Derevyanchenko has a better chance of winning the jury’s verdict.
As a result, the judges awarded the victory to Munguia. Derevyanchenko wanted a rematch, but experts are sure that the opponent will not give Sergey a second chance.
