Russian heavyweight boxing champion Maxim Babanin spoke about his plans in professional boxing, and also remembered the victory over Briton Tyson Fury.

– Maxim, you made your debut in professional boxing quite late. What are your global plans?

– Like everyone else – go without defeat. In the future, if you’re lucky, challenge Tyson Fury to the fight.

– How many times, when you watched his fights, did you have a desire to be in the place of his opponent?

– In fact, every time you watch any of his fights. For a long time already I could turn into professionals and perform no worse.

In his autobiography, Fury didn’t admit defeat to you. How convincing was your victory?

– He can say anything, but let him just watch the fight. Video is everywhere. Even on my page. Let him take a look and give his opinion. We saw each other after my victory over him. In 2016 at a tournament in the Netherlands. I am sure that if he had questions for me, he would not remain silent. We talked a little with him, took pictures and nothing happened. At that time, he had already defeated Wladimir Klitschko.

– And when was the last time you corresponded with him?

— There was no such thing. We didn’t correspond.

– What is the balance of power in the fight between Dillian Whyte and Tyson Fury?

White has a one hit chance. He hits hard. But Fury is unusually cunning. It will be difficult to hit him. I think that Fury will calmly disassemble it if he does everything correctly. Surely Tyson will conduct the starting rounds carefully, and then he will do his job.

– Gypsy King is the heavyweight king?

– Yes.

— He, not Oleksandr Usyk?

“Not yet,” Babanin said in an interview with News.ru.

A native of Volgograd, 33-year-old Babanin made his debut in the professional ring in November 2021, in Moscow. He won ahead of schedule against 23-year-old Bogdan Rakich from Lipetsk. In 2007, in the final of the European Championship among juniors, Maxim Babanin defeated Tyson Fury and won the tournament.

On the night of April 24, Fury will fight for the WBC champion belt against compatriot Dillian Whyte.
