ZHANG ZHILEI: “Fighting Ngannou is a shame for professional boxing”
Chinese boxer Zhang Zhilei, who holds the interim WBO world champion belt in the heavyweight category, criticized WBC champion Tyson Fury for his fight with former UFC champion Francis Ngannou.
“Honestly, I give the victory to Francis Ngannou because of the knockout in the third round. He threw stronger punches and was more aggressive throughout the fight. Fury did not hit too much. For some reason he backed off and controlled the distance with his striking. I think this is a shame for professional boxing .
I believe only Tyson Fury and his team know the reason for his poor performance. Maybe he underestimated his opponent or wasn’t prepared enough. We do not know. Only Tyson knows what happened, but frankly I think it’s bad for boxing,” said Zhang Zhilei.
Let us also remind you that on October 28, in Saudi Arabia, Tyson Fury managed to win against Francis Ngannou with a split decision, despite being eliminated in the 3rd round.
Earlier, Zhang Zhilei said that Tyson Fury should beat Ukrainian Alexander Usik in a head-to-head fight.
