USIK: “I didn’t believe Ngannou’s chances against Fury, but he shut everyone up”
Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usik He commented on his future fight with Tyson Fury, as well as the situation surrounding the Briton’s fight with Cameroonian former UFC star Francis Ngannou:
“My fight with Tyson Fury? It is scheduled to take place on December 23 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is our agreement on paper.
Frank Warren said many things and accused me of things that never happened. And guess what? We have a contract. The contract states that the fight must take place on December 23, no matter what.
Fury vs. Francis Ngannou? This bothered me; I worried very much. I would give Ngannou three rounds at most. I don’t know exactly what was really going through Tyson’s mind, but he probably really underestimated his opponent.
I thought this was supposed to be an exhibition fight. Look, people said different things and at the end of the day, Ngannou stepped in the ring and shocked the world with what he did. I didn’t believe Ngannou would have any chance and Francis shut everyone down.
Could we see their rematch? Maybe. They may reach an agreement on this issue after boxing Tyson Fury on December 23.
How can I beat Fury? I don’t think this way at all. I know that Tyson is a difficult person and likes to pretend sometimes. But my strategy is that I have to be 100 percent or more ready for battle.
And I don’t care how Tyson Fury prepares. It’s his job. I won’t tell you the tactics because Tyson Fury might read this. “It is very likely that he will be in much better shape by December 23.”
