SOSNOVSKY: “In terms of boxing intelligence and technique, Usik is better than Fury”
Honored Trainer of Ukraine, Head Coach of the National Boxing Team of Ukraine Dmitry Sosnovsky He shared his expectations for the upcoming fight between WBA, WBO and IBF super heavyweight world champion Alexander Usik (21-0, 14 KOs) and WBC belt holder Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs).
“If Fury enters the ring against Usik in the same shape and spirit as he did in his fight with Ngannou, then he will have little chance against Alexander. I know Usik well enough that I don’t know what Fury has to do to beat him. Usik is perhaps two points ahead of Fury in terms of boxing intelligence and technique.
If Usik picks up the tempo, drags Fury around the ring and attacks him with quick punches, victory will be his. It will be difficult for Fury to get anything done with Usyk in the middle distance. Alexander naturally has a cool reaction.
Fury’s only chance for victory is a dirty fight at close range. In the same fight against Ngannou, Tyson elbowed his opponent in the head. It may be inexplicable, but it can happen. If the blow of such a huge elbow falls on the ear, everything is lost. Oleksandr Usik is the best boxer in Ukraine right now, there are no other options here,” Sosnovsky said.
We would like to remind you that earlier the organizer Alexander Krasyuk, representing the interests of the Ukrainian champion Alexander Usik, talked about the possible postponement of the fight with Tyson Fury.
