Boxer Mazlum Akdeniz (16- 0- 0, 8- K.-O.) will bear the brunt of the gala final organized by Groupe Yvon Michel on June 2 at the Cabaret du Casino de Montréal.

The Longueuil athlete will aim for a first career title, that of the WBC Continental of the Americas in the super-lightweight division when he will cross swords with the Mexican Juan Antonio Rodriguez (32-8-0, 28 K.- O.) in a ten-round fight.

Akdeniz, 24, will be fighting his third fight since joining GYM in December. For his part, the left-hander Rodriguez already fought a world championship fight in 2015.

Mathieu Germain (20- 2- 1, 9 K.-O.) will also be on the card. The pugilist from Mascouche (20- 2- 1, 9 KOs) will try to sign a third victory in a row. He will do battle with the Mexican Eduardo Leonel Rodriguez (9-2-1, 4 K.-O.), who has just surprised Jonathan Medina (21-1-0, 16 K.-O.) by K.-O. . in the first round.

The gala will mark the return of Wilfred Seyi (9- 0- 0, 4 K.- O.) who is resuming his professional career. David Benavidez (8-5-0, 2 KOs) will be his opponent.

Former Canada national team member Eric Basran (1-0) will have his second professional fight as he takes on Jorge Castro (3-5-2, 1 KO) in a bout four rounds in the lightweight

Also in action, Sara Couillard who will make her professional bantam debut against Flor Carrera (1-0-1).

This gala was originally scheduled to be held on May 5. Tickets on this date will be honoured.
