Lainesse knocked out in his first UFC fight

Yohan Lainesse lost by technical knockout in his first fight in the UFC against Gabe Green.

Lainesse came close to ending the fight in the second round with a heavy right, but Green pulled himself together to surprise Lainesse afterwards.

The Quebecer seemed out of energy after attempting a guillotine on the ground and the American took the opportunity to surprise him with a combination of body shots that ended up throwing Lainesse to the ground.

Positives to remember for Lainesse in defeat

Green followed with a combination of ground punches that forced referee Herb Dean to end the fight.

Lainesse seemed in full control the first two rounds before his lack of energy caught up with him. This is a first professional defeat for Lainesse.

“He hits like a truck, but he seemed like he wanted a reason to quit, I gave him one,” Green commented after his win.

“It’s the experience that will come in,” also analyzed Patrick Côté, who was one of Lainesse’s corner men, to RDS. “At one point he got impatient and threw big power shots, but his cardio eventually let go in the 2nd round. Good fight from Lainesse; extraordinary duel between Font and Vera

In the main event, Marlon Vera defeated Rob Font by unanimous decision (48-47, 49-46, 49-46) in a bantamweight bout. Font threw 320 shots of which 179 hit the target. He managed one of the two takedowns he attempted. For his part, Vera was more disciplined with only 174 attempted shots of which 95 found the target. He knocked Font down twice with his punches.

In the semifinals, Andrei Arlovski defeated Jake Collier in a split decision bout. One judge gave Collier a 30-27 scorecard while the other two gave 29-28 cards.

Khabib Nurmagomedov had 29 fights in MMA and won 29 victories. He retired in 2020 as the UFC lightweight champion.

Pogba was suspended for four years for doping violations, but the athlete’s period of ineligibility was reduced to 18 months and expired on March 10, 2025. On June 29, the footballer signed a two-year contract with Monaco as a free agent.
