Shakur Stevenson beat Oscar Valdes without a single chance and a hint of intrigue or rivalry. Time will tell if this is the birth of a new star. But we can safely say that we have seen the true level of both athletes. And the Mexican did not give a reason to rejoice, if not upset.

Shakur knocked out his opponent every second of every turn. Valdez had no chance

Oscar Valdez’s heroic feats sometimes filled his head with false thoughts before a fight. It’s clear Stevenson is a favourite, a tough boxer, but the elimination of the current WBC world champion was surprising.

Valdes is a brave athlete. He took it against big opponents and stronger ones and people who in theory should be more technical and always need to be won. For what? First of all, the character. The Mexican is the perfect descendant of the legendary warriors of the country of the past. He definitely knows how to fight. Even a broken jaw didn’t help his opponent win.

The left side is almost perfect. His pressure does not allow his opponents to breathe. In general, a top-notch Mexican boxer with “scars” like everyone else. But all this was not enough. Because when there is no way to get over the wall, it can be skipped. Even if there are many steps to be taken. That’s what Shakur Stevenson did.

The American used all his skills to win. From the first round, he set a suitable distance and set priorities for the opponent. Either you keep coming at me and you get shot, or you don’t go and you lose. Valdez is stuck somewhere in the middle.

In the first rounds, Oscar didn’t seem to hit his opponent at all. He poked his hand from the side, then with the right straight line – all passed the target. Left side self-destructed due to opponent’s stance. The right straight line could not be reached due to the opponent’s height. The Mexican was like a younger brother who was shot by his older brother in a fight.

Closer to the fifth round, Oscar and the team realized that catching an opponent with a left hook was unrealistic. This blow is completely blocked. I had to find something – we managed to deliver the blow even further. Still, Stevenson landed, and the hand flew to the side, then to the back. The liver that the left hand always aimed for was never found.

What about the other options? It is very difficult to overthrow such a giant with one blow. For Valdez, this is impossible. He took his opponent’s head off with a right straight. Sometimes even from the side. But here Shakur also softened the hits and they did not turn out the way we wanted. Again – the problem of anthropometry. The Mexican fell only because of a desire to grow and hit harder. He just managed to fall harder.

Should I go to war? It wouldn’t make much sense. Stevenson very often and clearly caught an opponent in the counter move. Significantly increased the chance of being knocked out with an open attack. There was no chance of physically connecting – the opponent is too big. To throw to the neighbor – there was, but not enough.

Overall, Stevenson created all these problems for Valdez. We’re starting with Oscar in the statement because this is all a testament to Shakur’s level. He demolished a tough champion without feeling the competition. I sorted it out like it was an easy sparring and went to propose to the girl. Boxing at the level of top P4P stars.

Valdes’ final move failed. He tried to get closer, to break the series. The piece went on the defensive and passed the opponent, the section did not impress the American. In addition, Shakur has shown that he can catch his opponent at close range.

What’s next?

Oscar lost the title and zero on the losing chart. Unpleasant. This fight determined the main weight champion, and Valdez was categorically not.

The Mexican has many options, because he is an interesting young fighter, a former champion with only 3-4 years left. He can shoot other champions, fight other contenders, return to the category and box in money fights.

Even after such a defeat, Valdes wonders. As interesting in itself, his fights are interesting because of the intensity and clarity. Oscar may restore titles, but only when Shakur loses them.

Stevenson is unlikely to lose to anyone in the current league. Simply because there are no competitors here who can tear it apart. Too fast and big for anyone American. It will be interesting to watch his journey to the absolute championship, but you should not expect intrigue there. Just look at talented boxing.

But the transition to lightness is interesting. The men are bigger, faster, stronger. There will be one of Shakur Stevenson and how to have fun. We expect this even more than America’s absolute championship.

Nakatani triumphs in spectacular fight against Hernandez in Riyadh

On Saturday, December 27, Ring V boxing night is held in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), and its main event will be the fight for the title of absolute world champion Naoya Inoue – Alan David Picasso.

In the second most important fight, representatives of the second bantamweight (up to 55.3 kg) met – the former world champion Japanese met in the ring Junto Nakatani (31-0, 24 KOs) and undefeated Mexican Sebastian Hernandez (20-0, 18 knockouts).

Japan’s favorite gave the middle of the ring to his opponent and bet that he would be number two. Nakatani was excellent on his feet, attacking with lightning speed from favorable positions and quickly converting to long range.

The Mexican opponent decisively resisted his opponent’s blows, worked well in defense, but was inferior in speed and maneuverability.

Using his entire arsenal – punches, sides, hooks – Nakatani calmly dismantled Hernandez from distance. But after a safe start the favorite slowed down and allowed his rival to equalize the fight.

The opponent aggressively pressured Nakatani, throwing heavy punches and immediately hiding defensively to avoid missing anything heavy. Gradually, the initiative completely passed into the hands of Hernandez, who actively gained points from the judges’ notes.

In the championship rounds, both boxers continued to test each other’s mettle by throwing numerous punches. An incredibly spectacular and interesting fight, where the situation in the ring changes almost every second.

After the results of 12 rounds, the jury recorded the victory by unanimous decision of the Japanese, who can now fight with his compatriot Naoya Inoue.
