Legendary Holyfield talks about his most unfair defeat
American former absolute world boxing champion Evander Holyfield Sharing the memories of the two fights he had with Lennox Lewis, the actor said that the referee’s decision in their second fight was like robbery.
“I know I beat him for the second time. This was worse than a robbery because the truth was he knew he wasn’t beating me. He said: “You didn’t win the first time.” I replied: “Yes, but they drew.” I didn’t win and he didn’t win, so they decided to set up a rematch to give him the title because he had to win the first fight?
The second fight was completely different and sad because he thought it was okay because I didn’t win the first fight. Even though you now know he didn’t win, you too will say everything is fine. If they had drawn then we would have been equal and everything would have been fine. The judges thought I didn’t get the decision because I had two titles,” Holyfield said in an interview with YouTube channel VladTV.
