“More than 50 candidates”: Usik told about preparations for fight with Fury
While Tyson Fury is on holiday in Saudi Arabia with his family, Ukrainian Alexander Usik is preparing with all his might for the fight for the title of absolute world champion, which is planned to be held in Riyadh on February 17 next year.
“Tyson Fury is enjoying his holiday in Saudi Arabia and we are aggressively preparing for the fight. We already have more than 50 candidates for the role of sparring partners who responded to our call and meet the criteria. We have already selected three of them to Alexander’s camp. These are the world’s boxers from all over, they have different experiences. We believe that sparring with them will not only help Usyk prepare for the fight, but also bring a little more.
You can easily see what all the sparring partners have in common: physical characteristics similar to Fury. They are really big guys. For Usik, the choice of partner is still open. Their list is not yet complete and will grow,” said a source from Alexander Usik’s team.
Meanwhile, the names of many boxers who will help the WBC champion prepare to meet our compatriot in the ring have been announced. These include 18-year-old Briton Moises Itauma, who has already won eight victories in professional competitions, as well as Jai Opetaya, who received the nickname “Australian Mustache” for his boxing resemblance to the Ukrainian.
