American boxer Jermall Charlo was arrested in Texas for driving while intoxicated, reports TMZ Sports.

The incident occurred on Monday evening. Charlo, driving a Lamborghini, collided with another car and got into a verbal altercation with the second driver. He then left the scene of the accident and continued driving without complying with police orders to stop. The boxer drove more than a kilometer from the scene of the accident.

Charlo was booked on three separate charges: driving while intoxicated, fleeing from police and leaving the scene of an accident causing damage of $200 or more.

As noted on the World Boxing Council (WBC) website, the organization’s middleweight championship belt, which belonged to Charlo, is now owned by Carlos Adames, who was previously the interim WBC champion.

“After a thorough assessment of the situation and facts, the WBC may move Jermall to super middleweight,” the statement said.

33-year-old Charlo spent 33 fights in the professional ring, winning all of them. In his last fight, the American defeated Jose Benavidez Jr. by unanimous decision last November.
