Former IBF and IBO junior welterweight champion Eduard Troyanovsky said he was upset after the cancellation of the fight between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol.
The fight for the title of absolute world light heavyweight champion was planned to take place on June 1 in Riyadh. In May it became known that Beterbiev was injured, the fight was postponed and could take place at the end of the year.
“I was upset, like the entire world boxing community. I was waiting for this fight. I think the boxers themselves were upset. Will Beterbiev be able to return to fight such a fight? To be honest, I don’t know how serious this injury is. I’m not a medical expert. But if within a year he heals the injury and starts training, then it will be normal,” Troyanovsky was quoted as saying by “Championship.”
The 33-year-old Bivol has 22 victories in 22 fights; he is the WBA and IBO world champion. The 39-year-old Beterbiev has 20 early victories in the professional ring.
