Irish mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor made a statement on social networks about the cancellation of the fight with American Michael Chandler, noting that the decision to withdraw from the fight was not easy.

McGregor and Chandler were scheduled to meet in the Octagon in the main event of UFC 303 in Las Vegas on June 29. On Thursday, UFC head Dana White announced that the fight would not take place due to the Irishman’s injury.

“It’s very hard to lose the opportunity to fight. Before the press conference, I suffered an injury from which it took longer to recover than I had. The decision to reschedule the fight was not taken lightly, but I have consulted with my doctors, the UFC and my team. My fans and my opponent deserve me to be at my best in this fight, and we will achieve that. “Thank you for the words of support, I’m in a good mood, I’m sure I’ll be back,” wrote 35-year-old McGregor.

During his career in mixed martial arts, he won 22 victories and suffered six defeats. McGregor’s last fight took place in July 2021. 38-year-old Chandler won 23 fights with eight defeats.
