Russian boxer Sergeev won gold at the BRICS Games in the weight category up to 75 kg
Russian boxer Sergei Sergeev won a gold medal at the BRICS Games, which are being held in Kazan.
In the final fight in the weight category up to 75 kg against Dzhavokhir Umataliev, the judges unanimously awarded the victory to the Russian. Third place was shared by Islonbek Turgunov (Kyrgyzstan) and Marsharif Kazimzade (Azerbaijan).
In the weight category up to 80 kg, gold went to Beshto Shavlaev from Russia. His opponent from Uzbekistan, Turabek Khabibullaev, did not reach the final match. Bronze medals were won by Rehemandu Halimulati (China) and Aleksey Koktikov (Belarus).
In the weight category up to 71 kg, Russian Sergei Koldenkov lost to Khavasbek Asadullaev from Uzbekistan in the final by a split decision. Mayilanbieke Yerdavuleiti (China) and Sirchak Abdijonar (Kyrgyzstan) received bronze medals.
