After his fight with his compatriot Alexander Volkov, Russian heavyweight Sergey Pavlovich needs to think about the advisability of collaborating with his team. AMC Fight Nights champion Dmitry Bikrev shared this opinion with Match TV.
On Saturday in Saudi Arabia, Volkov won a unanimous decision over Pavlovich at the UFC tournament. For 35-year-old Volkov, this victory was the 38th in his career with 10 losses. The professional record of 32-year-old Pavlovich is 18-2. Volkov and Pavlovich were previously sparring partners.
— We must give credit to Volkov, he fully realized his anthropometric advantages. He did not let Seryoga do nothing at all. I thought Seryoga would be able to deliver his powerful blow and win by knockout, but everything was straightforward. Sanya was perfectly prepared, the fight plan worked. Volkov’s team won. And Seryoga… The big question is who he trains with and who trains him. We need to solve this. There are really big problems there, something needs to be done about it, because Seryoga’s second fight has already gone wrong (before this, Pavlovich lost to Tom Aspinall in the first round — Ed.). It’s very sad. Although he has all the makings to be a champion.
And Sanya needs to step on the gas so that he is given a chance to fight for the title. And maybe he can beat Aspinell. Why not… I saw great progress in Sanya, excellent mental preparation for this confrontation, he was focused. He fulfilled the plan 110%. We must give credit to him and his team, although I was rooting for Seryoga. Unfortunately, he did not please his fans, Bikrev told Match TV.
The tournament in Saudi Arabia was broadcast live on Match TV and Match! Fighter.
