American boxer Roy Jones, who holds Russian citizenship, reported the tragic death of his son Deandre at the age of 32.
“Unfortunately, my son Deandre passed away on Saturday. I am so thankful to God for allowing me to come home Friday night to spend his last night with him and his family. I know a lot of people are going through tough times right now, but nothing is worth taking your own life. God gives it and God should be the one to take it,” Jones wrote on his social media page.
Roy Jones won a silver medal at the Seoul Olympics and fought 76 times during his professional career from 1989 to 2023. The 55-year-old boxer won championship belts in four weight categories.
Roy Jones received Russian citizenship in 2015.
