Russian fighter rushed to hospital. UFC massacre not in vain

It was scary to look at Rinat’s face.

The UFC on ABC 6 mixed martial arts tournament was held in the capital of Saudi Arabia. The first Russian fighter to step into the octagon was Rinat Fakhretdinov. The gladiator has not fought since November 4, 2023.

Gladiator vs Lokomotiv

In the welterweight division, 32-year-old Rinat Fakhretdinov faced a Danish veteran, 39-year-old Nicolas Dalby. The Dane, nicknamed “Lokomotiv”, had 30 fights, of which he won 23. Including the last four, which indicated the veteran’s good form. Rinat started in professional martial arts with a victory. But in the second fight, he suffered a setback, losing to Aigun Akhmedov. Then Rinat won 17 fights in a row. In the UFC format, Fakhretdinov won four victories with one draw, which occurred in the last fight with the Brazilian Eliseu Zaleski.

Split decision

The fight turned out to be very tense. One fighter, then the other, had the advantage. The Danish veteran was firmly on his feet and performed dangerous moves several times. Still, Fakhretdinov was more active, especially at the end of all three rounds. Rinat was never able to use his signature choke, the guillotine. But the final bell found both opponents on their feet, and a decision by the judges was needed to determine the winner. The scorecards were 29:28, 28:29, 29:28 in favor of the Russian fighter. A very difficult victory for Rinat.

— A tough and fairly close fight, the opponent was objectively uncomfortable, physically strong. But at the same time, Rinat was able to impose his fight and take the fight, — commented on Fakhretdinov’s victory to “Championship” the president of the RCC promotion company Nikolay Klimenko.

The price of victory

After the fight, Fakhretdinov’s face was a solid hematoma. The left side was especially badly damaged. Rinat nevertheless put on a traditional Tatar skullcap and, swaying, left the battlefield. He was unable to appear for either an interview or a press conference. It turns out that the Russian fighter was urgently hospitalized.

According to Match TV, there is no threat to Fakhretdinov’s life and health. The injuries are minor. However, just in case, it was decided to take the Russian to the hospital.

As for Nicholas Dalby, the Danish fighter has broken his winning streak. Now he has 23 wins and 8 losses. Dalby has not yet made any announcements about ending his career. And why should he leave? Despite the loss, Lokomotiv has proven that he is in decent shape and is ready to improve his list of achievements.

Rinat Fakhretdinov currently has 22 wins, one loss and one draw. Now Rinat needs to heal his injuries, rest and move on. There is something to strive for, because our fighter does not have any championship titles yet.

“The grappling match with Makhachev will not take place, because Islam earns a lot of money in the UFC” – Tsarukyan

UFC lightweight number one Arman Tsarukyan said that he does not yet consider a potential grappling fight with the promotion’s welterweight champion Islam Makhachev to be realistic.

On Tuesday, Tsarukyan and Sharabutdin Magomedov, known by his nickname Shara Bullet, ended in a draw in a grappling bout in Yerevan.

— The grappling match with Makhachev will not take place, because Islam earns a lot of money in the UFC. I don’t think anyone can afford to pay him that amount,” Red Corner MMA quotes Tsarukyan as saying.

TYSON FURY: “Usyk will give up his champion title and there is a reason for that”

Former world heavyweight champion, British Tyson Rage I am sure that WBC champion Oleksandr Usyk will leave his belt vacant due to the lack of interesting opponents:

“Usyk will not fight opponents ranked in the WBC because it is impossible to make good money from these fights. How much money will he make by fighting Agit Kabayel or Lawrence Okolie?”

Frankly, these are insufficient. After making a ton of money fighting Tyson Fury, you don’t want to go back to fights that have no financial benefit.

Usik will therefore give up his WBC title and Agit Kabayel will become the full world champion. He will be able to defend against (German boxer) Okolie or Moses Itauma,” Fury said on the DAZN platform.

Kabayel’s next opponent will be Poland’s undefeated representative Damian Knyba. The fight for the WBC interim title will take place in Germany on January 10.
