Albert Batyrgaziyev’s team is waiting for a WBA resolution to begin negotiations with the full WBA champion, American Lamont Roach. The Russian boxer’s manager and trainer Eduard Kravtsov told Match TV about this.

Batyrgaziyev defeated Irishman Jono Carroll in a fight for the interim WBA super featherweight title. The fight took place in Serpukhov, Moscow Region, as part of the main card of the “Liga Stavok. IBA Champions Night” tournament.

— As expected, the fight was not going to be easy. The third round was unpleasant — Albert blundered, but there was no panic, he recovered by the end of the segment, and we continued doing our job, wearing out the opponent. And from the round we started to pick up the pace. Literally next week there should be a resolution from the WBA that Lamont Roach must have a mandatory defense with Albert within four months. We are waiting for the resolution and will discuss the fight with the American.

“We will discuss this with our leader Umar Nazarovich Kremlev. That was the idea. We hope to bring this fight to Russia,” Kravtsov told Match TV.
