The International Boxing Association (IBA) has been removed from the list of recognized international federations by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The decision was made at the 142nd IOC session, which is currently taking place in Paris. This decision was unanimously supported by the members of the organization. A decision was also made to approve the change of name of the International Swimming Federation from FINA to World Aquatics.
In April, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected the IBA’s appeal against the IOC Session’s decision to revoke its recognition. In 2019, the IOC temporarily revoked the IBA’s recognition status for economic reasons and due to the organisation’s governance crisis, and also put forward demands for reforms.
Russian and Belarusian boxers, in accordance with the decision of the International Boxing Association (IBA), compete in international competitions with national symbols.
The Paris Olympics will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The boxing tournament at the Games will again be held without the participation of the IBA.
