Samoa Boxing Coach Dies in Paris Olympic Village
Samoa boxing coach Lionel Elika has died during the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the International Boxing Association (IBA) website reported.
According to media reports, the 60-year-old specialist died “of natural causes” in the Olympic Village.
“The IBA extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Lionel, who tragically passed away during the Games. Lionel’s dedication and passion for the sport left an indelible mark on the boxing community. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. Our thoughts and prayers are with Team Samoa and all those affected by this tragic loss,” the statement read.
The Olympic Games in Paris run from July 26 to August 11.
